MP Calls to Expedite Health Assurance Hospitals for Expats

MP Osama Al-Shaheen asked for the speedy activation of the Health Assurance Hospitals Company (Dhaman) for expatriates.

Representative Al-Shaeen addressed the parliament to propose the activation of the Health Insurance Hospitals Company, stressing that transferring residents to health insurance hospitals and clinics will reduce congestion in government facilities, delays in appointments for x-rays and other medical tests.

Dhaman was established in 2014 with the aim of setting up a health system that serves more than one million and 800 thousand residents and provide them with health service while reducing the costs of their treatment on public spend by KWD 401 million annually.

MP Al-Shaheen also highlighted that the project has been delayed despite receiving approvals from the Fatwa and Legislation Department, the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and the Ministry of Finance and the State Property Administration since 2017.

Dhaman had recently completed the construction of its first hospital in the country at Ahmadi Governorate with capacity of over 300 beds, 21 intensive care units, and 14 surgical operating rooms.

The hospital will accept expatriates after the new insurance amount is implemented.
