In a statement posted Sunday on its official X account, the ministry said the move came under Cabinet directives aimed at boosting national preparedness and maintaining top-level performance in any situation.

As part of the plan, shelters have been activated in both the eastern and southern wings of the Ministries Complex. Together, they can accommodate around 900 people and are rated C4, a high classification that means they’re in excellent condition. Storage areas in the eastern parking facility have also been earmarked for emergency use.

To keep its systems online, the ministry enabled backup operations for its main financial platforms, Oracle and GFMIS, ensuring that critical services can continue without disruption. Remote work has also been activated, with staff now able to access systems securely via encrypted digital channels backed by advanced cybersecurity tools.

Kuwait is working closely with key authorities, including the Ministry of Interior and Civil Defense. A joint coordination meeting was held to align strategies and maintain a strong state of readiness in case regional tensions rise further.

The move comes in the wake of U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement on Sunday that American forces had carried out “very successful” airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Esfahan, a development that has raised concerns across the Gulf.

Kuwait’s proactive response reflects the heightened alert level in the region and its commitment to safeguarding public services, infrastructure, and citizen safety during uncertain times.
