Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, recently emphasized the country’s strong commitment to learning from the UAE’s successful railway experience. This came during a meeting on Sunday with a delegation from the UAE’s Etihad Rail Company, led by CEO Eng. Shadi Malak. The visit highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in infrastructure development.

Dr. Al-Mashaan praised the Hafeet Rail Company project, a joint UAE-Oman initiative, as an excellent example of Gulf integration through infrastructure. She explained how these collaborative projects support shared economic goals and improve regional connectivity. “Working together in this strategic sector shows Kuwait’s dedication to Gulf unity and to building stronger economic and geographic ties among GCC states,” she said.

The minister also highlighted the importance of close coordination between technical teams to ensure that future infrastructure projects meet the highest standards and contribute to the region’s development ambitions.

Supporting this view, Undersecretary Eid Al-Rashidi reaffirmed the ministry’s focus on adopting proven regional rail strategies. He stressed that early cooperation in rail planning is key to creating a sustainable and efficient railway network that boosts regional connections and drives shared growth.

During the meeting, Kuwaiti officials presented a technical overview of the country’s upcoming rail plans. Dr. Al-Mashaan outlined the ministry’s vision to develop a sustainable national railway system modeled on successful regional examples.
