Second Phase of Kuwait Waterfront Project Completed

Kuwait’s coastline is getting a major glow-up. Phase 2 of the Kuwait Waterfront Development project has officially been completed, delivering five kilometers of exciting new public space stretching from Green Island to the Yacht Club in Salmiya.

This is all part of a much bigger plan, 9.7 kilometers of waterfront transformation designed to enhance tourism, support the local economy, and bring Kuwaiti culture to the forefront.

A New Destination for Leisure and Lifestyle

Led by SSH in collaboration with Ahmadiah Contracting and Trading, the project is being rolled out in phases over a one-year timeline. Phase 2 introduces a variety of features that locals and tourists alike can enjoy, including children’s play areas, sports amenities, and a vibrant mix of restaurants and cafés.

It’s not just about looks, this stretch of coastline is now packed with functionality. You’ll find 12.4 kilometers of jogging tracks and 15.4 kilometers of dedicated bike paths, perfect for staying active while soaking in the views.

Built With Sustainability in Mind

The new development isn’t just modern, it’s eco-friendly too. Solar lighting now lines the area, and 40 electric vehicle charging stations have been added to support green transport. On top of that, 4,000 renovated parking spaces make it easier for everyone to visit.

Even the landscaping got a thoughtful update. The team swapped out water-hungry Conocarpus trees with plants that thrive in Kuwait’s climate, helping the space feel more natural while staying sustainable.

Art, Culture, and Vision 2035

As you walk through this waterfront, you’ll notice artistic installations that reflect Kuwait’s culture, environment, and heritage. These creative touches help make the space feel uniquely local.

The project supports Kuwait’s Vision 2035 by boosting tourism infrastructure, creating investment opportunities, and turning the waterfront into a destination for events, cultural experiences, and year-round leisure.

A National Effort With Global Potential

SSH proudly partnered with the Tourism Enterprises Company (TEC) to bring this vision to life. From design to supervision, the teams involved are celebrating this milestone as a major win for Kuwait’s future.

The full development will eventually connect the Yacht Club to Diyafa Village near Kuwait Towers, offering a mix of entertainment zones, lifestyle retail, green areas, and cultural activities. It’s about reconnecting people with the sea and with each other.

Whether you’re out for a jog, enjoying a family day at the park, or simply grabbing a bite by the water, Kuwait’s waterfront is becoming one of the country’s most exciting places to be.
