Kuwait Plans to Ban Balloons, Water Pistols, and Foam Sprayers

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) is set to enforce a ban on the sale and distribution of balloons, water pistols, and foam sprayers across all commercial outlets in Kuwait. This move follows numerous complaints regarding the misuse of these items during national holiday celebrations.

Comprehensive Ban

The ban, which will affect cooperative societies, supermarkets, and stores, comes with significant penalties for violators, including closure of the point of sale and legal prosecution.

Temporary Measure

The ban is expected to be enforced for a specific period, including February. The decision comes in response to various concerns raised by relevant authorities.

Reasons Behind the Ban

The Ministry of Commerce has cited several reasons for implementing the ban, including:

• Excessive water wastage during national holiday celebrations.
• Increased risk of car accidents and property damage due to the use of balloons and water sprinklers.
• High number of injuries, particularly to the face and eyes, caused by liquids filled in water pistols.
• Rise in physical assault cases during holiday periods, often triggered by the throwing of balloons and water.

The decision reflects the government's commitment to addressing public safety concerns and promoting responsible behavior during festive occasions.
