Kuwait International Airport has implemented a strict ban on non-travellers entering the terminal premises, effective immediately. The decision, confirmed by Abdul Wahab Al-Shatti, Acting CEO of Kuwait Airways, is part of enhanced security protocols designed to prevent unauthorized gatherings and ensure the safety of all passengers and staff.
Under the new measures, individuals who do not hold valid flight tickets or boarding passes are no longer permitted to accompany travelers inside the airport. This restriction applies to family members, friends, and anyone else intending to see off or welcome passengers at the gate or departure halls.
Al-Shatti stated that the prohibition is necessary to mitigate security risks and avoid congestion in sensitive areas of the terminal. By limiting access strictly to ticketed passengers and authorized personnel, airport authorities aim to streamline operations and reduce the potential for unwanted crowds that could compromise safety or disrupt the flow of travel.
The move reflects a broader trend among international airports to tighten security post-pandemic and in response to evolving global security threats. Travelers are advised to make necessary arrangements for farewells or greetings outside the airport perimeter, as exceptions to this rule are unlikely to be granted.
Airport officials urge the public to respect these guidelines to facilitate a smoother and safer travel experience for everyone. Further updates regarding access policies will be communicated through official channels if any adjustments are made in the future.
