Kuwait is stepping up efforts to protect workers from the scorching summer heat by banning delivery motorbikes from operating during the hottest part of the day. The Ministry of Interior announced that starting June 1, all delivery bike operations will be banned daily from 11 AM to 4 PM, with the rule in place until the end of August.

The ban applies to all roads across Kuwait, and officials have warned that strict penalties will be handed out to those who break the rule. The move is aimed at reducing the risk of heat-related illnesses among delivery drivers, who are often on the road during peak heat hours.

This isn’t the only summer safety measure being enforced. Earlier this month, Kuwait’s Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) also announced a broader ban on all outdoor work during the same hours and months. These seasonal efforts are common across the Gulf, where temperatures can soar above 50°C in the summer.

PAM said its teams will carry out surprise inspections to ensure companies follow the rules. First-time violations will get a warning and a one-day grace period. However, repeat offenders could face suspended records and financial penalties.

This annual outdoor work ban is a key safety measure in Gulf countries like Kuwait, which are home to large numbers of expatriate workers who often work long hours outdoors. Authorities hope that these steps will help protect workers' health and prevent heat-related accidents during the extreme summer months.
