MOI Terminates More Than 800 Expatriates

The Ministry of Interior has let go of over 800 foreign workers, the majority of whom are Egyptians.

These individuals were employed in administrative roles, with some holding legal advisory positions.

These workers were spread out across various departments within the Ministry of Interior.

This includes departments such as the General Administration of Nationality, Passports and Traffic, and the Automated Information Center.

The move to end their contracts was initiated by the Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled.

His intention behind this is to prioritize employment for Kuwaiti citizens, aiming to correct the demographic disparity.

Kuwaiti Workers

The departments affected by this decision are now in search of Kuwaiti citizens to take on the roles previously held by these expatriates.

It is said that the 800 employees who have been dismissed are just the initial batch.

Further terminations are expected in the upcoming months, particularly in crucial sectors like the traffic department.

The overarching goal is to replace foreign workers with local talent gradually.
