If you’ve seen posts claiming you could face jail time for hosting a Ramadan gathering in Kuwait without a permit — pause right there.

The Ministry of Interior has officially denied the rumours making rounds on social media.

No 6-Month Jail, No KD1,000 Fine

According to viral posts, anyone holding a Ramadan gathering without a permit could face a six-month jail sentence and a fine of 1,000 Kuwaiti dinars.

The ministry says that’s simply not true.

In a clarification, authorities confirmed they have not issued any statement or decision imposing such penalties.

Don’t Share Unverified Posts

Officials are urging the public to double-check information before reposting it. The ministry also reminded residents to rely only on official government channels for updates, especially during Ramadan when messages spread quickly online.

Bottom line: there’s no new rule about jail time or fines for Ramadan gatherings — at least not from official sources.

If it didn’t come from the authorities, it’s probably just another social media scare.
