Kuwait has announced a new set of flexible working hours for Ramadan 2026, easing schedules for public sector employees during the holy fasting month.
The decision was issued by the country’s Civil Service Commission, which outlined reduced hours and adjustable start times to accommodate staff during Ramadan.
According to the commission, the working day will not exceed 4.5 hours throughout the month. In a move aimed at giving government entities greater flexibility, each state department has been authorised to set its own start time between 8:30 am and 10:30 am.
For departments operating in the evening, the commission specified that work should not begin before 6:45 pm. The guidelines also include consideration for employees’ needs, with the evening working hours featuring a 15-minute grace period at the beginning of the shift. In addition, female employees will receive an extra 15-minute grace period at the end of the working day.
The announcement follows the usual regional practice of adjusting working hours during Ramadan to support fasting employees while ensuring the continuity of public services. Authorities said the measures are designed to balance productivity with employee well-being during the holy month.
