Kuwait Makes Two Decisions to Strip 20 People’s Citizenship

In a significant move, the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality, led by Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, has issued two major decisions to revoke the citizenship of 20 individuals.

The first decision, published today in the official gazette Kuwait Alyoum, revokes the citizenship of a woman under Article 10 of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959. This article is part of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law, which outlines the legal framework for nationality matters and its amendments.

The second decision affects 19 individuals, including 6 who were granted citizenship through establishment. This decision is based on Article 11 of the same Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959, which also addresses the nationality law and its provisions.
