Old DNA Sample Breaks Open Forgery Case

The DNA sample, originally collected in 2017 by Kuwait’s forensic department from a man who has since passed away, turned out to be a key piece of evidence. Investigators found that someone had been unlawfully added to the deceased man’s civil file, falsely claiming him as a father to gain Kuwaiti citizenship.

Fake Family Tree Created to Secure Citizenship

The man who faked his connection to the deceased citizen didn’t stop there. He registered dozens of individuals, claiming they were his children, creating a fake family tree on official records. This scheme granted them Kuwaiti citizenship based on the false documentation.

Fugitive Flees as DNA Tests Reveal the Truth

Eventually, the man fled Kuwait and ignored multiple requests to appear before authorities. When his supposed sons were arrested, DNA testing proved they weren’t actually related to the deceased man at all, blowing the case wide open.

34 Fake Children and 96 Fraudulent Citizens Identified

Investigators later discovered that the fugitive had added 34 fake children to his civil file. The deeper authorities dug, the more the web unraveled, eventually confirming a total of 96 people had gained citizenship illegally through this single fraudulent network.

Kuwait Cracks Down on Fake Citizens and Dual Nationality

This case is part of a broader effort by Kuwait to tighten control over its national registry. With a population of around 4.9 million, mostly made up of expatriates, Kuwait has intensified its crackdown on forged documents and dual nationality holders. Since early last year, thousands of people have had their citizenship revoked for such violations.
