Kuwait is Monitoring the Situation of Citizens Detained from the Global Sumud Flotilla

Kuwait has confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation of several of its citizens who were detained while taking part in the Global Sumud Flotilla.

The flotilla, which set out with international activists to challenge the Gaza blockade, was intercepted by Israeli forces earlier this week, leading to the detention of participants from multiple countries.

On Thursday, Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya announced that the Kuwaiti government is in constant contact with relevant authorities to secure updates about its nationals. He stressed that the well-being and safety of Kuwaiti citizens remain a top priority for the state.

Al-Yahya emphasized that the Foreign Ministry is exerting all possible diplomatic efforts to ensure the swift and safe release of those detained. Kuwait’s diplomatic channels are actively engaged, and the government is coordinating with international partners to resolve the matter at the earliest opportunity.

The detention of Kuwaiti citizens has sparked concern at home, where families and civil society groups have called for urgent action. The government reassured the public that it will continue monitoring developments around the clock and issue official updates as the situation progresses.

Kuwait’s position reflects its longstanding commitment to the safety of its nationals abroad and its active role in addressing humanitarian and political issues in the region. The outcome of these diplomatic efforts is being closely watched, as Kuwait works to secure the release of its citizens while reinforcing its humanitarian stance on the Gaza crisis.
