Before becoming Kuwait's Crown Prince in 2020, HH Sheikh Mishal served as head of state security for thirteen years after joining the Interior Ministry in 1960.

He also served as the Deputy Chief of the National Guard since 2004.

HH Sheikh Mishal has been integral in building and strengthening Kuwait's security and defence apparatus.

Kuwait's Next Crown Prince

HH Sheikh Mishal has one year to nominate Kuwait's Crown Prince who must be approved by the parliament.

The Crown Prince is only elected after he receives a majority vote in the National Assembly.

If the nominated Crown Prince does not receive the majority vote, then HH Sheikh Mishal has to nominate three descendants of Sheikh Mubarak Al Sabah.

One of the three nominees will then be elected by majority vote in parliament.

Kuwait is eagerly waiting to see who HH Sheikh Mishal nominates as the new Crown Prince of Kuwait!
