Two Injured at Kuwait's KNPC Refinery, Operations Remain Unaffected

Debris fell at the Al Ahmadi refinery early Monday morning, March 2, causing minor injuries to two workers, confirmed Ghanem Al Otaibi, spokesperson for the Kuwait National Petroleum Company and Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company.
The injured employees were immediately transported to Al Adan Hospital for medical attention and are now reported to be in stable condition under medical observation. Healthcare professionals are closely monitoring their recovery.
Al Otaibi stressed that refinery operations and production were not affected by the incident. Emergency teams promptly activated the rapid response plan, taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of staff and facilities. No material damage was reported to equipment or infrastructure.
"The Mina Al Ahmadi refinery continues to operate at full capacity," Al Otaibi stated, emphasizing that worker safety remains the top priority for KNPC management. The company's safety protocols and emergency response procedures proved effective in containing the situation swiftly.
The incident occurred as Kuwait's security apparatus remained on high alert, with Kuwaiti Air Defense forces successfully intercepting hostile drones approaching the country via maritime routes near the Rumaithiya and Salwa areas in Hawalli Governorate on the same day.
Brigadier General Mohammad Al-Mansouri, Director General of Civil Defense, confirmed that no injuries were reported from the drone incidents, noting that air defense personnel neutralized several aerial targets with high efficiency and precision. He assured that "the situation in the country remains stable" with authorities maintaining constant vigilance.
Air Defense units continue to track potential threats before they enter national airspace, while the Ministry of Interior's Cybercrime Department monitors online platforms to curb rumors or misleading information aimed at causing panic.
