Municipality: Shuwaikh Beach Development Plan Comes into Effect

The Kuwait Municipality made an announcement on Tuesday that the development of Shuwaikh Beach has come into effect. The project is said to include developing a 1.7-kilometer-long area of Shuwaikh Beach to create four zones.

As the Kuwait Municipality stated in a press release, the first zone will be dedicated to sports fields and facilities for entertainment. In contrast, the second will be used as a sandy beach. The third zone will be converted into a covered park while the last one is dedicated to lanes made specially for walkers and bikers.

The project is estimated to be completed within 17 months. The agreement was signed with the National Bank of Kuwait which will fund the project with KD 3 million. This project comes in line with Kuwait’s Vision 2035 plan to create new touristic, entertainment and sports sites in the country, said Maisa Boushehri, Deputy Director of the Projects Affairs Department at Kuwait Municipality.

She further added that the beach’s “vibrant and dynamic location” adds to its significance as the Municipality seeks to create new touristic destinations around the country. The project is also in line with the Municipality’s plans to develop all beachfronts in Kuwait, she explained.
