Drone Shrapnel Sparks Fire at Kuwait’s Shuwaikh Power Station Fuel Tank

Kuwait confirmed that a small fire broke out early Monday at a fuel tank inside the Shuwaikh Power and Water Distillation Station, after shrapnel from a drone struck the site.

According to Kuwait’s Centre for Government Communication, the limited fire was caused by debris from a drone, which authorities linked to what they described as “brazen Iranian aggression.”

Fire reported at dawn

Officials said the fire occurred at dawn on Monday in one of the fuel tanks at the facility.

Emergency teams quickly responded, and the situation was brought under control. Authorities described the incident as a limited fire, with no immediate reports of major damage to the station’s operations.

Safety inspections underway

Specialised teams are currently conducting inspections and assessments to check the safety of equipment and units connected to the affected tank.

Authorities said crews are working to ensure the station continues operating safely and efficiently as part of Kuwait’s electricity and water production system.

The government added that efforts are ongoing to maintain the facility’s readiness and reliability while assessments continue.
