What’s being proposed?

According to educational sources, the Ministry is working with relevant authorities to finalize a new academic schedule. Under the current proposal:

  • Administrative staff would return to work on September 1, 2025
  • Students would go back to school on September 7, 2025

This shift would bring the school year forward by one week. The goal? To allow for a break during the final 10 days of Ramadan, letting students and teachers focus on worship and community values during this spiritually important time.

Minister of Education, Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, is said to be fully behind the move, aiming to create an environment that supports both academic performance and emotional wellbeing.

  • Schools must ensure accurate entry and approval of all grades to avoid issues during central review.
  • Students without standardized 10th or 11th-grade certificates (especially those who studied abroad or in private/foreign schools) must submit equivalency documents.
  • Religious education students and home-school students must also provide proper certifications.
