Kuwait Pulls Viral Labubu Toy from Market Over Safety Concerns

Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced a recall of the popular Labubu toy (model TOY3378) after discovering a manufacturing flaw that could pose a choking hazard to young children.

According to the ministry, some detachable parts can come loose easily, increasing the risk of suffocation. Parents are urged to stop using the toy immediately, return it to the authorised distributor, and claim a full refund.

The recall is being carried out under Kuwait’s Consumer Protection Law No. 39/2014. Consumers can reach Hussein Abdullah Dashti EST for assistance at 96000017 or 56539540.

What’s the Hype About Labubu?

If you’ve been on TikTok or Instagram lately, you’ve probably seen Labubu. Designed by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung and produced by Chinese toy brand Pop Mart, the collectible doll has taken over the internet with its quirky, fantasy-inspired look.

Sold in “blind boxes” (where you don’t know which figure you’re getting), Labubu has become a global pop-culture phenomenon. Some rare editions have even resold for up to $3,000, making them prized collectibles among fans.

Beware of Fakes and Scams

With fame comes fakes. Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky recently warned that hundreds of scam websites pretending to be official Labubu retailers have popped up online. These fake sites copy Pop Mart’s branding and promise “exclusive discounts” to trick fans into sharing payment details.

Collectors are advised to buy only from verified Pop Mart channels and avoid suspicious links or offers, no matter how tempting the deal sounds.
