Ultra-Processed Food Is Most of the British Diet, and That's the Problem

Ultra-processed foods now make up more than half of the average British caloric intake, and they pretty much hog the high street shelves as well as family pantries, too. Because they’re convenient and often cheap, industrial formulations have slipped into everyday meals, almost without anyone noticing, and they’re gently pushing out traditional home cooking. This big dietary swing is a serious public health issue, and it goes way beyond just “personal choice”.
