Kuwait Psychology Association Launches Free Online Support

The Kuwait Psychology Association has launched a free online psychological support service to help residents cope with emotional and social stressors linked to ongoing regional tensions, the association announced on Tuesday, March 3.

In a statement, Dr Ahmed Jeza Al-Mutairi, chairman of the association, said the initiative aims to provide accessible mental health assistance to both Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates across all age groups, including children, adolescents, parents and the elderly. He stressed that the current situation continues to affect the psychological well-being of many in the community.

The service is being delivered by a newly formed rapid intervention team that offers support primarily in Arabic, and plans are underway to recruit qualified volunteers to expand assistance in English as well.

Available daily for most hours of the day, the online platform allows users to submit cases electronically. Support staff then assess and categorise each case before assigning it to specialised teams tailored to individual needs.

Dr Al-Mutairi highlighted that the programme brings together professionals from various ministries and state bodies to ensure coordinated and structured psychological care.

In addition to internal staff, private centres such as the Edrac Center for Cognitive Development and the Basmat Hayat Team have volunteered support, with around 30 qualified counselling professionals already participating in the effort.

The association emphasised that the launch of the service reflects a national responsibility to support mental health and well-being during periods of heightened stress. Those seeking assistance can contact the association through its dedicated hotline at 55582205.
