Fire at Power Station Safely Contained in Kuwait

A minor fire broke out at the Doha West power and water station in Kuwait after a fragment from an intercepted drone struck a fuel tank, authorities confirmed on Monday, March 2.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy of the State of Kuwait stated that the incident occurred during air defence interception operations. The safety and security team at the facility responded immediately following approved emergency procedures, successfully containing the fire.

According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), technical inspection teams are currently conducting detailed assessments of station equipment and operational units to ensure continued safety.

Officials confirmed that there were no human injuries, and the incident caused only minor material damage. Specialized teams remain on site to monitor conditions and apply precautionary measures where necessary.

Authorities also reassured residents that electricity and water services across Kuwait are operating normally, emphasizing that the country maintains high emergency readiness. Citizens and residents were urged to obtain updates only from official government channels to avoid misinformation.

The ministry highlighted that the quick response of station personnel helped prevent the fire from spreading, ensuring infrastructure stability during the incident.
