Arab, Islamic Nations Condemn Israel's Diplomatic Move in 'Somaliland'

Sixteen nations, including Qatar, have issued a strong condemnation against Israel for appointing a diplomatic envoy to Somaliland, describing the move as a challenge to Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The group comprises Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Bangladesh, Algeria, Palestine, Türkiye, Indonesia, Pakistan, Mauritania, Jordan, and Oman.

The foreign ministers from these countries argue that the decision reflects a blatant violation of Somalia's sovereignty and unity.

Qatar has reiterated its firm rejection of unilateral actions that compromise the sovereignty or territorial integrity of states, insisting on its full support for Somalia’s unity and legitimate state institutions as the sole representatives of the Somali people.

The joint statement emphasized that such actions defy established principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the Constitutive Act of the African Union. The countries warn that Israel’s move sets a dangerous precedent likely to destabilize the Horn of Africa region, with broader repercussions for regional peace and security.
