Al Ajiri Scientific Center Predicts Islamic New Year on July 19

Al Ajiri Scientific Center shared that the Islamic New Year might astronomically coincide with Wednesday, Jul. 19.

The Islamic New Year is also known as the Hijri and basically indicates the start of the first month of the Islamic Calendar Muharram. 

The center also shared that the month of Muharram will last for 29 days and will end on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023.

The second month of the Islamic Calendar Safar will begin on Thursday, Aug. 17 and will last for 30 days. Safar is expected to end on Sep. 15.

However, no announcement has been made about the public holiday for the public or private sectors. 

In the UAE, the Islamic New Year holiday will fall on Jul. 21 for the public sector, while in Oman the holiday will fall on Jul. 20 for both public and private sectors.
