Kuwait Bans Public Healthcare for Visit Visa Holders

Kuwait’s Ministry of Health has announced that individuals on temporary or visit visas will no longer have access to healthcare services at public hospitals, primary care clinics, or specialty centers.

The directive, issued by Health Minister Dr. Ahmad Al Awadhi, is designed to prioritize citizens and residents already covered by the national health system. According to the ministry, the policy is intended to ensure the sustainability of Kuwait’s healthcare sector, maintain service quality, and direct resources toward those most in need.

Officials described the move as part of a broader “comprehensive health vision” that aims to balance efficiency with fair access to services. The ministry added that reducing patient loads will help prevent overcrowding in hospitals and improve overall satisfaction levels.

In a separate development, Dr. Al Awadhi met with residents and representatives in the Ahmadi governorate to discuss healthcare expansion plans. Proposals included transforming the Ahmadi health district into a full medical city and updates on the ongoing Sabah Al Ahmad Medical City project.
