Kuwait’s General Traffic Department has confirmed that vehicle registration documents available through the My Kuwait ID app are legally valid. This means drivers no longer need to keep the traditional paper registration booklet inside their vehicles.
The announcement was shared on the department’s official X account as part of Kuwait’s move toward digital government services and easier vehicle procedures for citizens and residents.
Authorities have also explained how motorists can renew vehicle registration online through government digital services.
The first step is to buy third-party insurance from the relevant insurance website. Drivers need to choose an insurance company, complete the online payment, and print the insurance document after finishing the transaction.
If the vehicle needs a technical inspection, it must then be taken to the designated inspection department to complete the required steps.
After that, motorists can open the Sahl app, go to the Ministry of Interior and General Traffic Department services, choose the vehicle that needs renewal, and pay the registration renewal fees online.
This updated service is part of Kuwait’s wider digital transformation efforts. The aim is to reduce paperwork, make services more convenient, and help people access government services more easily.
With digital vehicle registration now accepted through My Kuwait ID, drivers can access their registration documents on their smartphones without needing to carry the paper booklet in the car.
