Cyclists in Kuwait Appeal for Bike Lanes After a Gulf Road Accident

Cyclists in Kuwait are appealing to the government for dedicated bike lanes after around 15 people got injured due to a hit-and-run accident on Arabian Gulf Road Friday morning.
The injured -- who were among a group of around 60 people who practice the sport weekly -- include one person in coma in the ICU and another in the surgery department.
"We were cycling as usual when a car driving recklessly hit us from behind," Darius Lumocso told Kuwait Times.
He explained that the two people in the car looked "very young", adding that they fled the scene immediately after the accident happened.
However, the Interior Ministry released a statement later on Friday saying that the motorist has turned themselves in to police and is being held in custody for legal procedures.
Lumocso was among four people who were taken to Mubarak Hospital, while seven others taken to Amiri Hospital including the two people in critical condition.
The Kuwaiti Health Ministry said that nine out of 11 people injured in the incident have been discharged from hospital after receiving necessary medical care.
