Major Abdullah Bu Hassan, General Traffic Department Officer of the Awareness Department, announced that effective next week, all traffic fines will be sent to violators electronically by mobile app or text message rather than on yellow paper.

A text message including the license plate number of the offending vehicle will be sent to smartphones as proof of the digital violations. Bu Hassan stressed that it is the major duty of parents to prevent their young children and teens from driving dangerously and illegally.

Bu Hassan announced the new development of Traffic fines at a ceremony honoring Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Traffic and Operational Affairs. He also said that the development of the department's electronic services is an aim of this new initiative.
