What is Taraweeh Prayer?

Taraweeh prayer is a special voluntary prayer that Muslims perform during the month of Ramadan, after the obligatory Isha prayer. It is a recommended prayer and is considered a form of additional worship during this holy month.

The word "Taraweeh" comes from the Arabic root "rawaha," which means "to rest and relax." It is also known as "Qiyam-ul-Layl" or "standing at night."

Taraweeh prayer typically involves performing multiple sets of two rak'ahs (cycles) of prayer, with a short break between each set. The number of sets can vary, but it is traditionally performed in sets of 20 rak'ahs.

Muslims believe that performing Taraweeh prayer is a means of drawing closer to Allah and seeking His forgiveness, mercy, and blessings during the holy month of Ramadan. It is also a means of strengthening one's faith and improving one's character through additional acts of worship and spiritual reflection.
