OceanGate Erases Online Presence by Deleting All Social Media Accounts

OceanGate, the sea exploration company, has deleted all its social media accounts and reduced its website content in an effort to remove its online presence following the tragic implosion of its Titan submersible, resulting in the loss of all five crew members on board.

The Washington-based firm's website now has a black background with its logo and a single line of text which reads: 'OceanGate Expeditions has suspended all exploration and commercial operations.'

OceanGate Expeditions’ Instagram account also appears to have been taken down.  Likewise, OceanGate's LinkedIn page displays a message stating that the page no longer exists, while Twitter indicates that the @OceanGate 'account doesn’t exist.

A separate OceanGate Instagram account could still be there; however, all previous posts had been removed, and the account's settings had been changed to private. Meanwhile, the company's website remained accessible until last week when OceanGate announced the suspension of all exploration and commercial activities.

The announcement followed a period of several weeks since the unfortunate incident involving the deaths of tourists Hamish Harding, Shahzada Dawood, Sulaiman Dawood, French Navy pilot Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush while aboard the submarine.

The disastrous expedition, which had been advertised at a price of $250,000 per passenger, raised inquiries about OceanGate's safety track record, previous operational practices, and the implications for future tourism at the renowned 1912 shipwreck site.
