For years, many thought all that they could see from space was the Great Wall of China. The assertion went so far that it was printed in textbooks, documentaries and mundane conversations globally. But NASA has never denied that the iconic line is mostly a misnomer. In fact, an astronaut cannot see the Great Wall easily or without special conditions or equipment. Interestingly, other giant man-made structures on Earth can be far more easily seen from orbit than the monument itself.
