Kuwait’s nationwide campaign against drug use has reportedly led to the arrest of a well-known actress, believed by many on social media to be Shujoun Al Hajri, a popular TV host and star of the Kuwaiti crime series Wuhoosh.
Caught in Ongoing Drug Raids
The General Department for Combating Narcotics confirmed on Friday that a woman was detained for allegedly possessing marijuana and cocaine. While officials didn’t release her name, online speculation quickly linked the arrest to Al Hajri.
The Ministry of Interior released a statement confirming that “legal measures” have been taken against the individual and stressed that the government’s anti-drug operations are ongoing and “firm,” targeting anyone who poses a threat to public safety.
Crackdown Part of Larger Strategy
The arrest comes as Kuwait ramps up its nationwide anti-drug efforts, with authorities carrying out frequent raids targeting both users and traffickers. Officials have described the campaign as a “comprehensive national strategy” to protect citizens from the growing presence of narcotics in the region.
So far, no official statement has been made by Al Hajri or her representatives, and her identity has yet to be formally confirmed by the authorities.

Strict Drug Laws in Kuwait
Kuwait is known for its zero-tolerance stance on drugs, with violations punishable by hefty fines, long-term imprisonment, and, in extreme cases, even the death penalty. The latest arrest, if confirmed, would mark one of the highest-profile figures to be swept up in the current wave of anti-drug operations.
