A Kuwaiti fashion influencer is facing a year behind bars in Bahrain after being convicted of posting what authorities deemed “indecent” content on her public social media accounts.

The influencer, identified as ZA, was handed a 12-month prison sentence and fined BD200 by Bahrain’s Minor Criminal Court. In addition to jail time, her phones were confiscated and a permanent deportation order will be enforced once her sentence is served.

The case gained traction after Bahrain’s Cybercrime Directorate flagged her account for uploading videos in what officials called “suggestive and inappropriate” poses. The Public Prosecution said the footage was in clear violation of public decency laws.

ZA was arrested following a warrant issued by Bahraini authorities. According to prosecutors, she admitted to owning the account and sharing the videos. Her mobile devices were seized during the investigation, and she remained in custody until the court delivered its final ruling.

The case stirred reactions online, with many debating the line between self-expression and legal limits in the Gulf region. While the influencer hasn’t issued a public statement, her case adds to ongoing discussions about the boundaries of online behavior across the region.
