The Kuwait Center for Mental Health, part of the Ministry of Health, shared important insights about mental health in Kuwait. They noted that many people in Kuwait, about 20% of the population, experience depression each year.

Additionally, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, though less common, still affect a small percentage of the population.

These findings were discussed during an event on World Mental Health Day, emphasizing that mental health is a basic right. Dr. Kholoud Al-Ali, the Center's Director, expressed satisfaction with the Ministry of Health's efforts to expand mental health services, focusing on individual mental well-being.

These services include diagnostics, therapy, recreational activities, daycare, and support for practical skills.

The Kuwait Ministry of Health has recognized mental health as an essential part of public well-being, reinforcing it by establishing mental health clinics in primary care centers.

Dr. Najah Al-Enezi, Head of the Emergency Unit at the Kuwait Mental Health Center and Head of the Psychiatry Department at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, noted a positive shift in societal perception, with reduced stigma towards individuals facing psychological challenges, thanks to increased awareness about mental health.
