Fuel supply issues are starting to hit closer to home, with hundreds of petrol stations across the Philippines forced to shut down amid ongoing global disruptions.
365 stations remain closed
As of Monday morning, a total of 365 gasoline stations remain closed due to supply constraints, according to recent reports.
The number had previously surged to 425 closures, before gradually dropping to 369 on Sunday and then slightly improving.
What’s causing the closures?
The shutdowns come as global fuel supply chains face pressure, partly linked to disruptions in key shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
While some countries have managed to avoid major impact, others—including the Philippines—are seeing tightened supply and rising fuel prices.
Prices on the rise
Alongside station closures, motorists are also dealing with increasing pump prices, adding more pressure on daily transport costs.
What this means for motorists
With fewer stations operating, drivers may face:
-
Longer queues at open stations
-
Limited fuel availability in some areas
-
Higher fuel costs
