Fare Hike in PH: Here’s How Much Jeepneys, Buses, and Ride-Hailing Now Cost

Starting Thursday, March 19, 2026, public transport fares across the Philippines are going up, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced.
Why Fares Are Rising
LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza called the decision “one of the hardest” due to the “erratic” surge in fuel prices caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In setting the new fares, the board considered:

Rising fuel prices (P75–P80 per liter)

Costs of spare parts and vehicle maintenance

Type of transport service
-
Nationwide average minimum wage increase of 19% (P76 from 2022–2025)
The fare increases are provisional and will become permanent by June, with the possibility of a provisional fare reduction if fuel prices drop.
Jeepneys
Traditional jeepneys

Minimum fare: P14 from P13 (+P1, 8%)

Succeeding kilometer: P2 from P1.80
Modern jeepneys

Minimum fare: P17 from P15 (+P2, 13%)

Succeeding kilometer: P2.40 from P2.20
Metro or City Buses
Ordinary buses

Minimum fare: P15 from P13 (+P2, 15%)

Per kilometer: P2.49 from P2.25
Air-conditioned buses

Minimum fare: P18 from P15 (+P3, 20%)

Per kilometer: P2.98 from P2.65
Ride-Hailing Cars (TNVS)
Base fares increased for all vehicle types, while per-kilometer rates stay at P15:

Point-to-Point (P2P) Buses
Fares increased by 15%. Examples:

NAIA → Clark (113 km): P400 → P460
Airport Taxis

Flag-down rate (first 500m): P115 from P75 (+P40, 53%)

Succeeding distance and waiting time charges remain the same
Provincial Buses
New per-kilometer rates (effective March 14) include:

PUB provincial (AC, Super Deluxe, Deluxe): P0.35/km

PUB provincial (Luxury): P0.45/km

PUB provincial (Ordinary): P1 base fare + P0.30/km
