Surprisingly, it has been found that a satellite that was meant to study the ice on the earth can also be able to detect activity much further than our planet. One more recent discovery in the interaction of space weather with our planet is provided by CryoSat, which is managed by the European Space Agency, recently recorded the data of a heavy geomagnetic storm- providing new information into the way space weather interacts with Earth.
