Dubai-based airline Emirates has officially announced that Iranian nationals are barred from entering or transiting through the United Arab Emirates, according to a statement posted on its website on Wednesday, April 1.
The new travel restriction affects all Iranian passport holders seeking to enter or pass through the UAE, marking a significant shift in the Gulf state's immigration policy toward Iranian citizens.
However, the restrictions appear to have some exceptions. Flydubai, another major UAE carrier, clarified on its website that Iranian nationals holding a UAE "Golden Visa" remain exempt from the ban and are permitted to both enter and transit through the country.
The implementation of these travel restrictions comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and Gulf Arab states, reflecting the broader geopolitical challenges in the region. The timing suggests the measures may be related to ongoing diplomatic and security concerns between the UAE and Iran.
Emirates and Flydubai have both updated their travel policies to reflect these new requirements, with passengers advised to check the latest entry regulations before planning their journeys to avoid disruptions to their travel arrangements.
