Samsung has added one of the most requested features for Android users: the ability to send photos and files directly to iPhones, iPads, and Macs using its Quick Share system. The feature, similar to Apple’s AirDrop, is now rolling out for the Galaxy S26 lineup.

Compatible Devices and Software

To use this new AirDrop-style feature, you need a Galaxy S26, S26+, or S26 Ultra. Samsung says more phones will join the list over time. The update is already available in the U.S., U.K., and other regions.

Software requirements include One UI 8.5 (update version ending AZCF) and Google Play Services version 26.11.xx. Once installed, Quick Share will notify you with a pop-up saying: “You can now share with iPhones, iPads, Macs and other devices that support AirDrop.” The feature is enabled by default.

How to Share Files

Both devices need to have sharing set to “Everyone”. On Galaxy S26 and Apple devices, this window lasts about 10 minutes. Transfers are straightforward and fast, though not quite as instant as iPhone-to-iPhone AirDrop. For example, a 3.3MB photo takes 5–10 seconds from an iPhone to a Galaxy, compared with under 2 seconds between iPhones.

Unlike Apple’s tap-to-transfer, Samsung’s Quick Share doesn’t include a physical tap gesture.

Why It Matters

This update removes one of the last major barriers between Android and Apple users. While Google Pixel phones had a similar feature for months, Samsung dominates the Android market. As more Galaxy phones gain access, cross-platform wireless file sharing is about to become much more common.

Sideloading Isn’t Recommended

Some websites suggest sideloading app updates to try and bring AirDrop functionality to older Galaxy phones. Experts warn that this is risky and not recommended, especially for those unfamiliar with the process. Official updates remain the safest way to enjoy the feature.

For now, upgrading to a Galaxy S26 is the easiest way to start sharing files seamlessly with Apple devices.
