Rain expected mid-week as unsettled weather continues, with cooler temperatures and strong winds impacting visibility across Kuwait.

Residents and authorities in Kuwait are preparing for rainfall to return on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Kuwait Meteorological Department, as part of ongoing unstable weather conditions affecting the region.

The Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the country has recently seen an increase in low- and medium-level cloud formations, sometimes accompanied by cumulonimbus clouds, which brought scattered showers, light to moderate in intensity, to several areas.

Rainfall amounts varied across the country during recent showers, with up to 35 millimetres recorded in Al-Abdali, 14 mm in Al-Sabriya and 7 mm at Kuwait International Airport, illustrating the variability of current weather patterns.

The return of mid-week rainfall follows the retreat of a low-pressure system, which initially caused recent showers, allowing a high-pressure system combined with a cold air mass to advance over Kuwait. This shift is also expected to lead to noticeably cooler temperatures and active northwestern winds, potentially exceeding 60 km/h at times.

These winds may raise dust and reduce horizontal visibility, particularly in open areas, posing additional considerations for motorists and outdoor activities.

Meteorologists advise the public to stay updated with official forecasts as the rainy conditions evolve through the week and to exercise caution during periods of reduced visibility and strong winds.
