Hamas has confirmed the resumption of negotiation for the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza.
A Hamas spokesman, Abdel-Latif Al-Qanoua, said on the group's Telegram page, "The second phase of contacts and negotiations has begun...All attempts by the occupation to exterminate our people and revoke their rights in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank will fail."
The second phase of negotiations will begin on the sixteenth day since the ceasefire began on Jan. 19.
The announcement came ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington.
The Israeli PM revealed earlier on Tuesday that his country will send a high-level delegation to Doha in Qatar to discuss the continued implementation of the ceasefire deal.
The second phase will include agreements on the release of remaining hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, according to Reuters.
