Lebanese-American tennis player Hady Habib became the first Lebanese to win a singles match at the Grand Slam main draw. 

Habib advanced to the second round of the Australian Open after defeating China's Bu Yunchaokete. He reached the main draw after winning the three qualifying matches. 

Habib had secured a spot in the Australian Open qualifiers after winning the Temuco Challenger in Chile in 2024.

Hady Habib and Benjamin Hassan became the first tennis players to represent Lebanon at Paris Olympics last year. 

Habib will take on the 14th-seed Ugo Humbert in the second round on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
