Primark Opens its First Store in Kuwait With an Exciting Ceremony

Fashion retailer Primark has officially entered the Middle Eastern market with the opening of its first store in Kuwait, representing a significant milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy.

Located at The Avenues’ Grand Plaza, the new flagship spans more than 60,000 sq ft across two floors and employs around 350 staff. The growth move comes via a partnership with Alshaya Group, a leading retail franchise operator in the region.

This opening marks Primark’s first-ever franchise store, and counts as its 18th international market entry. The store features the brand’s full product range—women’s wear, men’s wear, children’s wear, home & beauty—and includes recognised collaborations (such as with Disney and Spanish influencer Paula Echevarría) as well as its premium line “The Edit”.

Long queues gathered outside the store on Thursday afternoon, October 23, for the opening of the outlet.  The ceremony featured performances from Rodolphe Manoukian, Angelina Lutsyk, and Retaj Abdullah.

Various renowned creatives were at the event, including Hind Nassar, Nour H H, and Abdulaziz Alkhamis.

Primark’s interim CEO commented that choosing The Avenues as the location underscores the retailer’s ambition in the region, adding that the response from customers, “finally able to get their hands on the affordable fashion and essentials we are known and loved for”, has been very positive.

Meanwhile, Alshaya’s CEO noted that the partnership was announced about a year ago and that bringing the brand to its “home country of Kuwait” has been a core focus, making this opening “the beginning of bringing this most anticipated brand to shoppers across the region.”

Looking ahead, Primark and Alshaya confirm plans to open three additional stores in Dubai during the first half of 2026, with an initial launch in The Dubai Mall in March, followed by outlets in City Centre Mirdif and Mall of the Emirates.

The Kuwait launch is part of Primark’s broader acceleration of global expansion. Earlier in 2025, the retailer celebrated ten years in the United States and announced a flagship store in Manhattan due to open in 2026. As of the Kuwait opening, Primark operates around 475 stores across 18 countries spanning Europe, the US and the Middle East.

For shoppers in Kuwait, this means access to Primark’s value-fashion model—a mixture of trend-driven styles, collaboration lines, and home/beauty collections—now under one roof. For the brand, it signals a new chapter of regional growth with a strong local partner and a high-profile entry point in a prime shopping destination.
