Authorities in Kuwait temporarily took six power transmission lines out of service on Thursday after debris from intercepted drones fell on the infrastructure, according to the Kuwait Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy.
The ministry said the falling debris caused damage to several transmission lines, leading to partial and limited power outages in a number of areas across the country.
Engineer Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, the ministry’s official spokesperson, said specialised emergency teams were immediately dispatched to assess the situation and repair the affected infrastructure.
According to Hayat, technical teams worked quickly to restore the damaged lines and bring the electricity supply back to the affected districts.
“Power was restored to the affected areas in record time,” she said, adding that the rapid response helped minimise disruption for residents and businesses.
Officials said the incident occurred after defence systems intercepted drones in Kuwaiti airspace, with debris falling onto power infrastructure during the interception. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and have urged the public to rely on official updates regarding infrastructure and security developments.
