Global Sumud Flotilla: Israel Releases Kuwait's Dr Khaled Abduljader

Kuwait’s Dr Khaled Abduljader arrived in Jordan following his release from Israeli detention on Tuesday, October 7, where he was held alongside 130 other activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla.

The group had been detained after attempting to sail towards Gaza as part of a humanitarian mission aimed at breaking the blockade and delivering aid to Palestinians.

According to a statement by Jordan’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, a total of 131 activists were deported from Israel to Jordan through the King Hussein Bridge border crossing. The activists, representing various nationalities, were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla initiative, which sought to raise international awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Dr Khaled Abduljader, a well-known Kuwaiti humanitarian and participant in multiple global relief efforts, was among those detained during the mission. His release has been widely welcomed in Kuwait, where citizens and humanitarian organizations have expressed relief and solidarity with his cause.

The Global Sumud Flotilla, organized by a coalition of international activists and human rights groups, set sail to advocate for freedom of movement and to deliver much-needed medical and food supplies to Gaza. Despite being intercepted by Israeli forces, the activists have reiterated their commitment to peaceful advocacy and humanitarian aid.

With their release, the flotilla participants—including Dr Abduljader—are expected to continue their global campaign to support Palestinians and call for unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza. The event has drawn renewed attention to ongoing efforts by international activists to challenge the blockade and promote global solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Dr Khaled Abduljader’s safe return highlights both the risks faced by humanitarian activists and their enduring commitment to justice and peace in the region.
