Gardenia, one of Kuwait’s most vibrant cultural and artistic events, is set to officially open its fourth season on Thursday, January 15, at the Kuwait National Museum, offering residents and visitors an immersive mix of art, design, music and outdoor activities.
Held as part of the National Day Celebrations under the patronage of the Minister of Information, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature, the event runs daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through January 31 across the museum grounds, including Al-Bader House and the Sadu House.
Architect Bashar Al-Salem, Founder and CEO of Kayan, the organisation behind Gardenia, highlighted that this year’s edition further blends art and culture with educational programming. The season features more than 200 Kuwaiti artists and over 20 workshops, in collaboration with academic and private institutions, offering creative, architectural, environmental and cultural learning opportunities.
Unlike a typical exhibition, Gardenia serves as a collaborative platform where major companies, governmental and private entities, and small businesses, from cafés and handicraft vendors to youth-led initiatives, combine forces to create engaging pavilions and experiences for visitors.
The event also boasts a rich schedule of cultural attractions, including open heritage museum displays, planetarium shows, art galleries, live music and cultural band performances.
Planners say the festival’s extended seasonal timeline, launching with a soft opening in December and continuing through early March, also sets the stage for future programmes, including a special Ramadan agenda to be announced later.
Bader Al-Mutawa, Director of Artistic and Cultural Activities at Gardenia, noted that the selection process for participating artists was highly competitive, attracting more than 1,000 applications, which were screened and reviewed by expert committees before final selection.
Gardenia’s fourth season invites the public to explore and engage with Kuwait’s evolving contemporary art scene while celebrating the country’s cultural heritage in a dynamic outdoor setting.
