Kuwait Announces Public Holiday for Eid Al Fitr 2026
The government of Kuwait has officially announced the public holiday schedule for Eid al-Fitr in 2026.
The decision was confirmed by the Kuwait Cabinet during its meeting on Tuesday, outlining two possible holiday periods depending on the length of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the Cabinet, if Ramadan completes 30 days, the Eid Al Fitr public holiday will run from Thursday, March 19 to Monday, March 23, 2026.
However, if Ramadan lasts 29 days, the holiday period will be from Thursday, March 19 to Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and is one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar.
The festival is traditionally confirmed following the sighting of the crescent moon, which determines whether Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days.
Public holidays for Eid Al Fitr typically allow residents across Kuwait to spend time with family, attend prayers, and participate in festive gatherings and charitable activities.
Authorities are expected to confirm the exact duration of the holiday closer to the end of Ramadan once the moon-sighting committees determine the official start of Eid.
