Earth's moon, long thought to be a lifeless and inactive world, was not likely to harbor any kind of biology for decades. New scientific findings, however, are again casting doubt on the possibility of the Moon having the conditions that could indicate the presence of life-related activity, either in the past or on a microscopic scale. Although scientists are not announcing the presence of aliens, their discoveries of water, subterranean structures and organic compounds are challenging previous theories. All these findings are reigniting debates on what might be lurking under the peaceful and dusty surface of the Moon.
