Trump Extends Iran Ceasefire After Pakistan's Request

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he is extending the ceasefire with Iran until diplomatic talks are concluded "one way or the other," following a request from Pakistan's leadership, who are currently mediating the negotiations.

In a post on Truth Social, the President stated that Pakistani officials had asked for the truce to be prolonged until Iran "can come up with a unified proposal."

"I have therefore directed our military to continue the blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted and discussions are concluded, one way or the other," Trump wrote.

The announcement came alongside a statement from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which confirmed on social media that its forces "remain ready" during the extended ceasefire period. The message was accompanied by a video showcasing warplanes, naval vessels, and CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper at a media briefing with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

"We are rearming, we're retooling and we're adjusting our tactics, techniques and procedures," Admiral Cooper stated during the briefing, emphasizing continued military preparedness despite the ongoing truce.

The extension marks another development in the prolonged diplomatic standoff between the United States and Iran, with Pakistan serving as an intermediary in the negotiations. Analysts suggest the pause in hostilities provides crucial time for Tehran to consolidate its position before resuming formal discussions.
