Kuwaiti Actress Hayat Al-Fahad Passes Away at 78

Popular Kuwaiti actress Hayat Al-Fahad died on Tuesday, April 21, following a brief illness. She was 78 years old.

Al-Fahad's death was announced on her official Instagram account, where the post described her as "an icon of Gulf drama." The tribute added that she leaves behind "a timeless legacy that will be remembered for generations."

The beloved actress rose to fame in the 1960s through the television show Bu Jassum's Family. Over the course of her remarkable seven-decade career, Al-Fahad appeared in more than 50 TV series and movies. Among her notable works were Khalti QumashaRuqiya wa SabikaJarh Al Zaman, and 'ndama Tu'Gany Al Zuhor.

Rumors about Al-Fahad's failing health had circulated widely last year after she underwent a catheterisation procedure at the end of July, following a stroke.

At the time, Khalid Al-Rashed, president of the Kuwaiti Union for Artistic and Theatrical Production and Entertainment Professionals, stated that Al-Fahad suffered a second stroke during treatment. He added that the procedure was successful and that she remained in intensive care at a hospital in Kuwait.

Her passing marks the end of an era for Gulf television and theater, with colleagues and fans mourning the loss of one of the region's most celebrated performers.
